Accelerate Action

Advocate for your health.

Breast cancer is not just a diagnosis—it’s a life-changing journey. But with the support of loved ones and the strength of the human spirit, many women find the courage to fight back and defy the odds.

Why Women’s Health Advocacy Matters.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 7 women in the UK. But behind every statistic is a real woman, a real story, a real fight. Early detection dramatically improves outcomes—studies show that when breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, the survival rate can be as high as 98%.

Yet, too often, women’s health concerns are overlooked or dismissed. Symptoms may be downplayed, and women may struggle to get the answers they need. That’s why self-advocacy is so important. Seeking a diagnosis, attending screenings, or pushing for further investigations when something doesn’t feel right can make all the difference.

Women, especially those with busy lives, often put their health on the back burner. But the truth is: we cannot afford to wait. If you feel a lump, experience unusual symptoms, or simply want to stay proactive, prioritising your health means giving yourself the best possible chance for early intervention and treatment.

The power of unity.

Strength in Numbers.

No one should have to face breast cancer alone. When women come together, we create an unstoppable force—lifting each other up, sharing strength, and building a community that replaces fear with empowerment. That’s why we are launching ‘In Her Words’ on International Women’s Day 2025. For over a century, IWD has stood for women's resilience, progress, and the ongoing fight for equality. But beyond celebrating achievements, it’s also a day to raise awareness, challenge barriers, and demand action.

This year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ is a call to push for urgent change in women’s healthcare. By sharing real stories and real experiences, we highlight the gender health gap, raise awareness of the challenges women face in healthcare, and inspire others to advocate for themselves—whether that means booking screenings, seeking second opinions, or demanding better care.
